Good To Know

Enjoy a 1.5-hour pirate treasure hunt with a brave crew aboard the Sea Gypsy ship on Murrells Inlet.
Check-in at the ticket booth by the front stairs of the Dead Dog Saloon restaurant (parking lot side).
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before departure for children's face painting and pirate costume dress-up.
Once the entire crew is ready for boarding, the Captain greets everyone and the real adventure begins on the water.
Allow time for traffic, parking, check-in, and other needs prior to the cruise.
Wear weather-appropriate clothing and comfortable shoes. Bring a camera, valid ID, small towel, sunglasses and light jacket.
Highly recommended for children, but must be supervised by at least one adult.

Find treasure and defeat pirates! Pirate Adventures of Myrtle Beach is a place where children can experience the magic of sailing away in search of sunken treasure onboard the pirate ship, Sea Gypsy.

Upon arrival, your child will be painted with a curly mustache or with an anchor tattoo, dressed with a lucky treasure hunting vest and marched off to the ship!

Once onboard the Sea Gypsy, the young pirate crew will learn the rules at sea and use a treasure map to find the sunken treasure. As the crew searches for clues, they discover that Pirate Pete, the smelliest, most rotten, pirate on the Seven Seas, is lurking nearby, and he has something the brave crew needs. Off into the battle with the famous water cannons! Will the crew defeat Pirate Pete and find the sunken treasure!?!

Onboard the Sea Gypsy—find the treasure and defeat Pirate Pete! The children will always walk away with incredible stories!

Where is the Pirate Adventures of Myrtle Beach located?

The Pirate Adventures Children's Treasure Hunt begins at Dead Dog Saloon, located at 4079 Hwy 17 Business South Murrells Inlet, South Carolina 29576. Murrells Inlet is about 10–12 miles South of the Myrtle Beach International Airport and five miles north of Brookgreen Gardens.

Where do we check in?

Upon arrival, you will check in at the ticket booth by the front stairs of the Dead Dog Saloon restaurant on the parking lot side. Once checked in, the staff will march the entire group down to the boat.

How early do we need to arrive?

Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time (and no later than 15 minutes prior) so your children can get their free face painting, get dressed in a lucky treasure-hunting vest and receive their pirate name tag for the adventure. Once the entire crew is prepared for boarding, the Captain will greet everyone and then the real adventure begins. Allow time for traffic, parking and check-in.

Is there parking available?

Yes, complimentary parking is available onsite in the gravel lot across the street.

Are parents required to join for children onboard?

Yes, children must be supervised by at least one responsible adult. However, they recommend as many as want to can come and enjoy in their children or grandchildren’s experience!

Do adults have to pay for the Pirate Ship ride?

Yes, supervising adults need their own tickets to be accounted for in the total passenger count.

Do we get wet during the boat ride?

Yes, there's possibly some overspray from a passing boat wake, as the water cannons fire into the wind and battle with Pirate Pete. Passengers typically stay dry on the boat.

What should we wear?

Please wear weather-appropriate clothing and comfortable shoes.

What should I bring?

Bring your camera, sunglasses, a light jacket, a small towel, and a valid photo ID.

Can we take pictures or video?

Yes, take as many pictures as possible! However, video and audio recordings of the adventure's script and crew's dialogue are not permitted.

Will I get seasick?

Although everybody is different, you or your children likely won’t get seasickness. The Sea Gypsy stays in the tranquil and protected body of water named Murrells Inlet; this is not an ocean going adventure.

Is this experience wheelchair accessible?

No. However, it’s circumstantial to each individual and their equipment. The pirate ship door width is 2 feet and 4 inches. From the main Marsh Walk there is a ramp down to the boat dock. The ramp's steepness varies as the tides ebb and flood throughout the day. There is also a step at the bottom of the ramp and about a foot and a half step up into the pirate ship.
